PRE PURCHASE INSPECTION

Meter box and circuit protection upgrade.
Switchboard upgrades are a very common and very important job we frequently complete.
​
At this particular job, a customer had recently purchased a home and wanted to install Air conditioners and other electrical upgrades. The old meer box could not take the extra equipment due to undersized 32A mains cable and lack of room to add new circuits.
You can see the old meter box had the old fuse wire protection. These are a concern as they can be a fire hazard due to the possibility the incorrect size wire or foreign object have been installed in the past.

Only the 2x power circuits were protected by a safety switch which is another safety concern.
​
The new meter box rectifies these issues by installing RCBOs (circuit breakers with a built in safety switch) on each circuit. We also installed 63A mains which is the standard supply for a modern home.​
AFTER
The customer also upgraded the new meter box to include a backup generator power setup so in the instant of a power outage they could quickly plug in a generator and power the house (limited to 16A). This gives them the ability to run there fridge/freezer, lighting, ceiling fans, a bedroom, air conditioner and some other small appliances.
